Fantastic aroma and flavor, typical for this style. Low enough ABV to drink several of them in one sitting, and that's another thing I take advantage of. Incredibly yummy.

(draft) Took a long time to drink - it's pretty filling. Very nice aroma and a good flavor. This beer has convinced me that I now like hefeweissbiers - though I like the non-dunkel version a lot more. Seemed to affect me more than its 5.3% alcohol would suggest.

UPDATE 08/13/07: Accidentally had a bit of this. There was a sourness that I didn't remember from before, a sourness that I didn't care for very much. I gave most of the glass back.

Westmalle Dubbel

(bottle) Cloudy dark brown. Minimal head. Aroma of malt and cola. Flavor more of the same. A bit of a musty taste at first that grew on me. Not a lot of fruit in the flavor, just malt and cola. Pretty damn good.

(draft) Hazy light orange. Good long-lasting head. Aroma of apples and citrus and wheat. Flavor is light and fruity - a bit like a Belgian wheat. Just the slightest hint of alcohol burn at the finish.

(draft) The bartender didn't know if this was an American or German wheat, so I had a pint to find out. What it is is a very weak American wheat. Very little aroma or flavor. Since I don't like American wheats, this one was actually very tolerable.

(draft) Looks like grapefruit juice. Smells pretty good, kind of like a blend of Belgian and German wheat styles. Flavor was more of the same. Nothing wrong with this beer at all, but nothing really right about it either.

(draft) Hazy yellow. Huge head. Aroma maybe a little woody, hard to describe. Flavor was mostly sweet molasses and caramel. The bitter sting at the finish I attributed to alcohol, and not hops. Decent, not quite good.

(bottle) Wow. I wasn't expecting a beer this special. The label says "Belgian Ale Brewed with Juniper Berries." There's not a whole lot that I can add to that description, but I owe it more. Flat-out yummy. If there's a better beer on Earth, then I haven't had it. I want more right now and always.

Winter's Bourbon Cask Ale

(draft) Clear bronze. A very interesting vanilla and smoke aroma. Despite the name, there wasn't even the tiniest hint of bourbon. A nice medium mouthfeel, with vanilla and light smoke in the flavor as well. Pretty fucking good. I don't care who makes it.

(draft) I was expecting more from this beer for some reason, but I should have known better. This is, after all, the brewery that touts their chocolate stout as "double" chocolate even though it's clearly the weakest of any that I've ever had. But enough ranting. A decent brown ale with a touch of something that I couldn't identify - there's not enough of whatever it is.

(bottle) Clear amber. Decent head that faded quickly. Malty aroma with just a hint of hops. The taste was actually pretty decent, though subdued. Malt and maybe some caramel in there, with a bit of that damn lagerish fizziness that I can't stand. No bitterness though. A decent beer, almost a good beer.

(bottle) The aroma was almost overpowering at first, but after that it was hard to even detect. The flavor was mild and tasty. It was kind of strange to pull a cork on a bottle of beer and find something this generic inside. Good, but not great.
