This was very frustrating. See if you can guess why.
Okay, I'll tell you.
I busted that cluster up and it still left me nothing, then when I managed to bank the one cross-side I came up several feet short of having a good shot.
Then the fucking last ball jumped when it hit the rail and I missed running nine by like two inches.
I am a great fan of your pool blog and movies. I notice that you have extra dots on the rails of your Diamond Table and can’t help but to wonder what are they for? In the movie argh1 where you bank 8 in a row it looks like you use the mirror image banking system am I correct?
Keep up the good work and you really should come to Mr. Cues 2 in Atlanta, Georgia if you want meet some great looking girls that can play pool.
Just another fan

First, thanks. Maybe some day I'll even post new content.
I used three-hole reinforcement thingies to mark off the half-diamonds on my table back when I was first learning how to bank. I don't really remember why, but I'm sure I had a good reason.
I don't really have a banking system that that I use consistently. What I was doing in a couple of the shots on that movie was part of a thing called the "parallel system" that I can use when I can't quite see the angle normally.

Your movies are great. You seem like a pretty good pool player. What do you prefer 9 ball, 8 ball or straight pool? How many racks of 9 ball have you run out without missing? Ever player any top players?

Thanks. I used to prefer bar table 8-ball, back when that was all I played. Then my favorite game switched to 9-ball, because that was almost all I played. Now my favorite game is banks, by a long shot.
I've run 9 racks of 9-ball on bar tables a couple of times, but that was around 15 years ago. These days I do good if I even run one rack. That's because all I do is bank balls, and I've forgotten how to make regular shots.
I've played a lot of top players at the Derby City Classic. Shannon Daulton would probably be the most famous.

Why are you yelling at me? And who's Barry? Jim Rempe is a class act. I've never met him, but I've seen him a few times.
Also, I don't play 8-ball anymore, but if I did I'd use the BCA rules. I don't know how similar they are to the "world rules" you mention.

Bro I"m just here to praise your game. I've stumbled upon your page a couple years ago, and I'm glad it's still up. You inspire to get my game up to your level, especially with the banks. Keep up the good work!

Thanks. I'd like to get my game up to where it used to be. Not sure that's ever gonna happen though. It would probably help if I'd actually play every now and then.

I might only be 12 but I've had my practice but I bet you could beat me by a long shot in banking

I remember when Shannon Daulton was about your age. He was better then than I've ever been.

Thats pretty cool to know. I just spent 4 hours straight with my dad at a pool hall and he has 2 uncles that are in tournaments all the time that taught him some of their techniques. He beat me about 2/3 of the time, but at least I one some and the rest were I had one ball left while he was going for the 8 ball.

why do you choose to do so many bank shots when eaier shots with a less margin of error are available?

Because the game is bank pool.

I have recently purchased an 8 foot table and had it recovered with simonis 860 I LOVE IT. I copied off some of your practice shots and have been trying them. Thanks for posting them. Are there any books out there that you strongly reccomend? I pretty much play nine ball only.

Depending on your skill level, I remember that Byrne's 99 Critical Shots really taught me a lot. For 9-Ball specific stuff, I like Capelle's book the best.
